ASPHALTIC PAVEMENTS • All asphaltic materials shall conform to the requirements and specifications of the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). • Furnish and install GDOT 9.5 mm TPI mix for both the binder and surface course unless otherwise specified. • Contractor shall be responsible for trucking off of all spoils created by milling operations. • Contractor must apply bituminous tack to existing surface prior to repaving, at a rate of 0.070 gallons per square yard. • Hot mix asphalt pavement and mixtures shall conform to the type, thickness, and gradation shown in the contract documents, unless otherwise specified. • Contractor must sweep all road edges prior to paving. • Contractor is responsible for all traffic control. • Contractor shall allow local traffic on roadway segments at all times. ASPHALTIC MILLING • Work covered under this section shall consist of furnishing all labor and equipment to remove the asphaltic pavement by milling to the thickness as shown in the contract documents. • Surplus material will become property of the CONTRACTOR and shall be picked up and disposed of by the CONTRACTOR. • Upon completion of the milling operations, the CONTRACTOR shall ramp all driveway entrances, and butt joints along the project route. The ramps shall provide a reasonably smooth transition from the existing pavement to the milled surface. The CONTRACTOR shall be required to maintain these ramps until the asphalt is placed, • If proper signage is utilized, i.e. rough road or uneven surfaces, the CITY will allow up to three (3) days after milling operations to place the new asphalt surface. The CONTRACTOR will be allowed to place the binder surface and let the public ride on that surface for up to seven (7) days. This will allow the CONTRACTOR to schedule multiple streets for paving with a surface coat.
