The harvesting of hay, as specified in this bid package, shall be in accordance with all terms and provisions specified herein. The harvest areas are within the Simon Kenton WMA property located in Mason County, Kentucky. The harvest areas contain approximately 150 acres. The bidder will be responsible for cutting, baling, raking, and removing the hay from the WMA. In addition, the bidder is expected to lime the fields once during the five-year contract, at a rate of 4 tons per acre for a total of 600 tons for the entire 150 acres. The application of lime can be split over the duration of the contract. The bidder also agrees to sow a Ladino White Clover and Medium Red Clover Mix twice during the contract period but not on consecutive years. The planting will happen between February 15th through March 1st, preferably by the “frost seeding” method. Seeding rates are 1lb to the acres of Ladino clover and 3lbs to the acre for medium red clover. Seed tags and receipts will be required. Harvesting may not start any earlier than August 1, annually for all years of this contract. The bidder must move hay out of the fields no later than October 1st of each contract year. If the bales are not removed from the premises the hay will be forfeited to KDFWR and the contractor will be charged $5.00 per bale removal fee for any bales remaining on the property.
