i. Regardless of the number of jacks required in each work area, each contractor provided faceplate shall have at least three (2) ports. Wall mounted faceplates shall be of a color agreed upon by the Solicitor to match the décor of the offices being cabled. Every jack shall be labeled according to the appropriate standard unless otherwise requested by the Solicitor. For all faceplates, any ports not populated with jacks shall be fitted with blanks. ii. For each wall telecommunications jack requested by the Solicitor, the contractor shall provide two (2) four pair category 5e or 6 cable (one for the actual jack and one spare cable) originating in the appropriate telecommunications room and terminated on a standard wall telephone jack mounted in compliance with the Americans with Disability Act. iii. All cables shall be installed so as to be fully concealed within ceilings, walls and columns and fished into modular furniture as required. All work area telecommunications outlets/connectors shall be in flush- mounted faceplates. Data/power poles shall be used only when there is no other feasible method of routing and concealing cables. Where it is not practicable to fish walls or otherwise conceal cable in ceilings and walls, the contractor may use a category 6 compliant surface raceway systems and matching surface- mount outlet box, if applicable. Any poles or surface raceway systems installed by the contractor must be approved in advance by the Solicitor to ensure that it is compatible with space plans and décor. iv. Cable support hardware above suspended ceiling may not be mounted on or in any way supported by the ceiling grid, panels, support channels or vertical ceiling supports such as ceiling supports wires or rods. All cables routed above ceilings shall be suspended in keeping with all applicable standards. Cables shall not sag more than 12” between cable supports. Cables shall be loosely bundled and follow hallways and common areas to be installed in keeping with TIA/EIA recommendations. v. Each contractor supplied horizontal cable shall incorporate a minimum of six (6) feet of service slack located in the telecommunications room. Where practical, the six (6) feet of service slack should be located in the ceiling or other appropriate location in the telecommunications room. vi. The contractor shall, at the request of the Solicitor, supply color coded horizontal cabling and jacks to facilitate distinguishing between cable of different categories and cables intended for different purposes. A minimum of three (3) distinct colors of horizontal cabling, patch panels and matching jack/inserts shall be made available in each category of cable. vii. All underground fiber installed under this agreement shall have a trace wire installed along with the fiber. viii. All conduit installed under this agreement shall have a pull string, cord or rope as appropriate.
