The new NYPA customer offerings of aggregated distributed energy resources (DER) and virtual power plants (VPP) necessitate support of a Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS). How this requirement is fulfilled may take the form of “Software as a Service” (SaaS) platform license, or a “Public-Private Partnership” (P3). A P3 relationship will be based upon NYPA managing customer development and engagement with a strategic partner providing the DERMS platform and partially or fully operationalizing the program on a performance basis. Commonly these relationships include: 1.) a jointly operated end-to-end site and resource management and operating program aligning operational strengths of NYPA and the vendor, and 2.) a ”Turnkey Partnership” in which a strategic partner fully operationalizes the program enhancing NYPA’s role as “trusted energy advisor” to our customers. Novel partnerships beyond those specifically discussed here are welcome and will be considered for award.
