The FFS Forester-in-Charge will schedule all roller chopper services with the contractor for the identified service areas. The tracts requiring roller chopper services are within the boundaries of Blackwater River State Forest, located in Santa Rosa County, Florida. The site boundaries will be identified by woods roads, firebreaks, stand edges, or other methods as identified by FFS Forester-in-Charge with the contractor prior to roller chopper service delivery. The estimated total acreage of treatment area is approximately 610 acres. The treatment areas are sites that have been clearcut 4-6 years prior. There are high densities of small pine and oak trees along with yaupons, vines and other underbrush in the treatment areas that range anywhere from five feet (5’) to 15’ tall. The treatment areas also have scattered pine and hardwood trees that are 8” diameter and up and up to 70’ tall. These larger standing stems that are one hundred feet or more from roads and boundary lines are to be left standing, unless directed by the Forester-in-Charge. The terrain is mainly flat to gently sloping. Target species include, but are not limited to, laurel oak, water oak, loblolly pine, yaupon holly, and woody vines
