Manufacturer Qualifications: Tanks shall be manufactured by a company with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the aquaculture fiberglass tank building industry, producing two-piece rectangular ponds. Material & Construction: Troughs shall be made of fiberglass and constructed on a male monolithic mold. Resin shall be U.S. FDA-approved for use with foods and potable water. Framework & Layers: Each trough shall consist of a double 2×6 framework on 24-inch centers with: • 3/16-inch inner fiberglass layer • 7/16-inch OSB sheathing • 3/16-inch outer fiberglass layer Additional steel reinforcement as required to maintain a ¼-inch maximum deflection at midpoint. Gel Coat & Finish: Inner gel coat layer: smooth, 25 mm thick, green in color. Outer gel coat layer: 25 mm thick, green in color. All factory perforations must be sealed with resin and gel coat. Resin shall be U.S. FDA-approved for use with foods and potable water. Drainage: One (1) 6-inch Schedule 40 PVC coupling, fiberglassed flush with the inside tank bottom to serve as a drain. Drain fitting shall not protrude into the inner tank.
