Maintenance for the park shall consist of the following functions: 6.2.1 Mowing; 6.2.1.1 All mowing equipment shall be equipped with sharp blades so as not to tear but cleanly cut the blades of grass. All grass shall be cut at height of two inches (2”) to three inches (3”). Upon completion, a mowed area shall be free of clumped grass and tire tracks or ruts from the moving equipment. Ruts created by Contractor’s equipment must be filled to natural ground level. Turf shall be cut in a professional manner so as not to scalp turf or leave areas of uncut grass. Care shall be taken to prevent discharge of grass clippings onto any paved surface such as streets, parking lots, sidewalks or driveways and onto adjacent properties. Any materials discharged shall be removed immediately prior to proceeding with mowing of other areas. 6.2.1.2 All plant growth in cracks, seams and/or joints of paved areas such as sidewalks, curbs including cub gutters and catch basins, and driveways shall be cut flush with the pavement surface during the completion of each Section. 6.2.1.3 Ditches less than four feet (4’) deep are to be mowed to the same schedule and specifications as other lawn or turf areas of the park. 6.2.1.4 Ditches four feet (4’) or more in depth are included in Section 1 between and/or parallel to Hwy. 124 and the main entrance of the park. Two cross ditches in this Section are also included. Mowing on ditches four feet (4’) or more in depth is required once per month and shall be performed in the second week of the month, but otherwise to the same specifications as other lawn and turf areas of the park. 6.2.2 Edging; All sidewalks, curbs and steps must be mechanically edged to a one-inch (1”) depth and one-fourth inch (1/4”) width using a metal blade exposing the concrete surface. Edging and maintenance of edge shall use a vertical cut approach. All material dislodged by edging must be removed from the site prior to the exit of the work crew from the immediate work site. Sidewalks must be edged on both sides. Chemical treatment may not be used in place of mechanical edging. Please make note of the two (2) long sidewalks that must be maintained in Section 2: 6.2.2.1 In front of the Nature Center to the bridge: 922 feet long, 4 feet wide. 6.2.2.2 Behind the Nature Center to the Cattail March: 4,173 feet long, 8 feet wide.
