Site Assessment & Design 1. Conduct a detailed assessment of current exterior lighting conditions and the project area (drawing to be provided by the Town with this RFP). 2. It is recommended that each bidder visit the site and assess the existing conditions. 3. Provide a photometric illumination plan for all proposed fixtures, clearly showing anticipated foot-candle levels throughout the project area to ensure compliance with industry standards as well as the Town’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) and safety standards. o Parking lot area to be average of approximately 1 foot-candle (min 0.5, max 2.0) with uniformity ratio of 4:1 or better. o Sidewalks average of 1.5 foot-candles (min 1, max 2) with uniformity ratio of 5:1. 4. Develop a lighting plan that addresses aesthetics, safety, functionality, energy efficiency, and “dark-sky” (full cut-off fixture) considerations where feasible, per Town UDO. Electrical Assessment & Installation 1. It is believed that conduit infrastructure has been previously installed; however, the contractor must confirm the adequacy of existing conduits and include additional conduits if necessary to support the proposed design. 2. Confirm that the existing electrical service is adequate to handle the additional loads proposed. If not, identify and include any necessary upgrades in the proposal. 3. Provide and install a new electrical sub panel to support the new exterior lighting system. o Provide separate circuits for parking lot fixtures and sidewalk fixtures. 4. Install exterior cutoff switches in accessible locations to allow Town staff to quickly and safely shut off all installed lighting in case of emergency or maintenance. o Each switch shall be clearly marked for its use. o Switches shall be weathertight and rated for exterior use. 5. All wiring shall be installed in PVC conduit, in accordance with NEC and all applicable codes for long-term durability. Some existing ductbanks have been installed by others, reference provided drawing. Contractor shall field verify all conditions.
