The Consultant will assist the South Dakota Army National Guard (SDARNG) in updating their inventory of historic (more than 50-years old) structures and buildings throughout their facilities in South Dakota. This work is being done to aid in compliance with Section 106 and Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act, as amended (NHPA) and it’s implementing regulations as outlined in 36 CFR 800. This project will provide the SDARNG a comprehensive inventory of all buildings and structures in their inventory, along with construction dates, and National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility status (listed, eligible, not-eligible, not yet 50-years old). Proposed upgrades and projects at the various SDARNG facilities must comply with both Section 106 and 110, and an up-to-date inventory will aid in expediting the compliance process. South Dakota State Historic Preservation Office (SD SHPO) forms will be completed for any ageappropriate resource that has not been previously surveyed, and updated forms will be provided for any previously documented resource that exhibits changes since the form was initially completed. The work requires a thorough understanding of the SDARNG facilities, their history, and their extant resources. Understanding changes and alterations that have taken place to the various facilities will expedite the documentation work, as will a thorough knowledge of the history of the SDARNG. Experience working with the SD SHPO and their systems is a key component to the successful completion of this project, as is having staff located in South Dakota, who are able to visit each facility. Detailed Description of work: Task 1 - Background Research and Data Verification The Historic Architecture Survey Consultant (Consultant) will review the SDARNG Buildings and Structures table (previously compiled) to help confirm construction dates for buildings and structures on SDARNG property. The Consultant will also collect any information regarding NRHP Eligibility for resources from the SDARNG records as well as the SD SHPO records. This will be done utilizing previously completed surveys and histories of the SDARNG and their resources, and by reviewing all data available in the South Dakota State Historic Preservation Office (SD SHPO) GIS system. Consultant will also utilize historic maps and aerial images
