Proposals are requested by the Town of Canton from qualified consultants to work with the Public Works Department, Historical Commission, and Community Preservation Committee to conduct a condition assessment and prepare a Preservation Program for the 10 – 11-acre Colonial-era, Melancholy-era (Churchyard), Meetinghouse, Rural Cemetery Sections of the Canton Corner Cemetery. Condition Assessment: 1. Utilize various materials, maps, and reports to understand the historical nature of the site. 2. Review maps, grave marker locations, preservation plans, site conditions to establish an existing conditions baseline. 3. Conduct a site survey and assessment of grave markers including location, type, material, extent and severity of damage. Preservation Program: 1. All work to be done with consideration to the appropriate Secretary of Interior Standards for Historic Preservation. 2. Prepare a statement of current conditions within the study area including; a. Pathways, paved or unpaved b. Fencing c. Grave markers, with assessment of need / immediacy d. Trees, landscaping, lawns, ground e. Any elements that come up during physical survey of the site 3.
