Tasks performed by contractors in the areas above may include, but are not limited to, concept or design development of mechanical or electrical design, production of industrial design renderings, definition of design intent parameters, creation of virtual 3D prototypes, performance of theoretical evaluation of designs (to include interference fit, animation, renderings, and photo-realistic renderings), providing 3D scanning services, providing Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) services, providing proof-of concept prototypes to ensure functionality, providing parts and assemblies of mechanical designs, providing parts and assemblies of injection molded design, providing parts and assemblies of electrical designs, production of Bills of Materials (BOM), providing manufacturing sourcing and alternative materials analysis and information, providing manufacturing cost estimates for varying production volumes, production of user instructions, assembly instructions, and operations instructions (may include video), production of manufacturing packets or Technical Design Packages (TDP), providing test capabilities in order to validate design, conducting iterative build-test cycles required for product refinement, conduct or facilitation of physical testing (destructive or non-destructive), facilitation of cycle testing, user and focus group testing, manufacturability testing, identification and development of testing protocols, and providing detailed reports of test results.
