3.1 Termination Splice Cabinet Specifications 3.1.1 This specification describes the termination splice cabinet that the City of Austin will install over hand holes on existing pole. The cabinet will allow the City to retrofit existing signal poles that do not have terminal strips with a dry enclosure for the City to terminate field wiring. This will allow the City to relocate splices currently in pull boxes into this pole mounted cabinet. 3.1.2 The box shall come in two pieces. 3.1.2.1 Main cabinet that contains two 2 x 12 position terminal blocks 3.1.2.2 Base plate frame that has a curved back to conform to the signal pole and provide a stable mounting mount for the cabinet 3.1.3 Where specific Parts and manufacturers are identified, the City reserves the right to accept alternate material deemed equal by the City of Austin 3.2 Cabinet Shell Requirements 3.2.1 The housings shall include, but not be limited to, the following: • Enclosure • Doors • Gasketing • Latches, Handles, and Locks • Hinges and Door Stops 3.2.2 Housing Construction 3.2.2.1 The housing shall be rainproof. It shall have one door, equipped with a lock and handle. 3.2.2.2 The enclosure top should be angled to prevent standing water. 3.2.2.3 The cabinets shall be constructed per the nominal dimensions: 22”H x 7.75”W x 5”D 3.2.2.4 The mounting plate frame shall be contoured to fit around the signal pole and should not add more than 2” depth to the overall dimension of the cabinet. 3.2.2.5 The opening in the back of the box shall be large enough to at a minimum allow the following cable to pass through: o 1 – 20 Conductor o 1 – 7 conductor o 6 -5 conductor
