The Planning Department and Conservation Commission seek a consultant to update the Town’s Open Space and Recreation Plan using the Massachusetts’s Open Space Planners Workbook as guidance for the update. The consultant will facilitate in-person meetings and engage the public in discussion, in conjunction with Town staff. Note: These will be evening meetings. A robust public participation process is needed to help engage residents in specifics of where additional open space is needed, how it is used and what improvements to existing open space are needed. There may need to be additional outreach to Environmental Justice Populations in accordance with the 2024 EOEEA Public Involvement Plan and Community Engagement and Outreach Guidance, as most recently amended. We anticipate holding two public meetings. The first will break into focus groups followed by a general discussion of open space needs and priorities town wide. The second meeting will present and refine the priorities defined during the planning process. The Consultant will work with Town to prepare the final, complete Plan and appendices. The consultant will work with members of the staff to submit final plan to EEA DCS for approval and make revisions as directed by EEA DCS for approval. Further, the process and plan shall be done so in accordance with the Open Space and Recreation Planner’s Workbook, revised March 2025.
