The New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) is responsible for child welfare and juvenile justice services in New York City. ACS’ Division of Youth and Family Justice (DYFJ) provides citywide juvenile justice services with a focused strategy of promoting public safety and improving the well-being of youth, families and communities by ensuring quality care and creating youth-centered opportunities to help young people become positive, contributing members of society. ACS partners with City agencies such as the NYC Public Schools, Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and the City University of New York (CUNY), and contracts with community-based organizations to provide vocational services, including education or training that prepares young people in its care for the day-to-day duties they may perform in adolescence and adulthood. This RFP will build on existing efforts to provide youth with career exploration, work readiness, vocational training, and tutoring support in Secure Detention and Close to Home settings. ACS has successfully engaged young people in vocational programming, including work readiness classes and workshops (e.g., resume writing, mock interviews), certifications, internships, and paid work experiences through the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). ACS seeks to partner with a skilled provider that offers high-quality tutoring and training programs to promote successful career development for youth. The provider must have experience developing and leading career exploration and work readiness classes and workshops (e.g., labor market research, interview preparation, and resume writing), vocational education and training, tutoring (grades 8-12, GED, and college), job/internship placement (e.g., preparation and links to internships, apprenticeships, and employment), and networking with the larger workforce development community.
