HCSD has an immediate need to hire a contractor to replace gas lines and associated services at Homewood Elementary due to a gas leak. The work is required to be performed as soon as possible, due to the gas shutting off required to make the kitchen along with the building generator, to be completely shut off and cannot operate until it is repaired. Homewood Elementary will have students return to school August 18th. The parts required to perform the work could take up to 10 days for delivery. The lack of a functional kitchen to serve breakfast and lunch to the students would be detrimental to the safety of the students and staff. The gas has been shut off, which will prevent any usage of kitchen appliances, kitchen water heaters and the building generator, which is a public health and safety concern to students/staff. The district intends to hire Mace Mechanical Contractors to provide all necessary labor, materials and equipment to demo existing gas lines and replace them with new lines.
