Bid Qty: 3 - Large Animal Net Ejector -This is a net gun made from a modified Remington 700 that can launch a 15’x15’ net up to 30 yards. These net guns will provide the wildlife health team to respond to requests and collect samples for disease from large living animals (deer, medium sized mammals, and large birds). Bid Qty: 2 - UltraNet w/Case - a small, portable, handheld net launcher that uses compressed CO2. These handheld devices can capture medium to small sized birds and mammals. Our staff does not currently have a method for safely capturing and immobilizing an animal of testing interest, other than relying on passive trapping. These handheld UltraNets would be important for responding to a potential rabid skunk or raccoon that we would like to test. Rabies was detected in wild skunks in the spring of 2024 for the first time in about two decades. One of these reports included a child that was bitten and later treated for rabies post exposure.
