The Work consists of the construction of an approximately 180,000 sf three-story middle school and with associated sitework, co-located on the site of the existing Quioccasin Middle School, and the demolition of the existing Quioccasin Middle School. The new middle school building consists of a structural system with a combination of loadbearing CMU and steel framing. Interior partitions include CMU, drywall and limited amounts of wood veneer paneling. Flooring includes polished concrete, carpet tiles, wood sports and stage flooring and rubber floor tile. Roofing systems include EPDM membrane. Building features include kitchen with food service equipment, dining commons, a main gymnasium, an auxiliary gymnasium, 500-seat auditorium, library, general classrooms, career technical and technology areas, Innovation Center areas and classrooms, Family and Community Engagement office area and administration areas. The building has been designed to achieve LEED Silver certification and will require coordination with LEED requirements. Site construction includes the construction of a new bus loop, bus canopy and new parking area including all grading, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, site utilities, driveways, paving and sidewalks, fencing, site lighting, signage and landscaping. Demolition of the existing school may require hazardous material abatement. A hazardous materials study has been provided by the owner and is included as a part of the bid documents. New athletic facilities include a new baseball field, softball field, tennis courts, and multipurpose field. Sports lighting is included for the athletic fields.
