SCDSS is required to ensure that youth in foster care are placed into setting that can safely meet their needs. Presently, SCDSS does not have a provider who can provide dedicated intake and assessment services for youth who are entering foster care or who may be experiencing placement instability while in foster care. SCDSS present placement array lacks a provider who is able to provide dedicated intake and assessment services. Implementation of this program will improve placement instability of youth by providing comprehensive assessment of their needs, as well as crisis stabilization. This will increase the likelihood of identifying the most appropriate residential placement setting to meet the individualized need of youth in foster care.
