A. Move Furniture Prior to vacuuming and steam cleaning, the Contractor shall move wastebaskets and/or trash containers, chairs, mats, footrests, miscellaneous boxes, stands, and carts easily removed from the carpeted area. Desks and bookcases are excluded. Should there be a question regarding any item to be moved, the Contractor should contact the EDD Representative. B. Vacuum The Carpeted area must be cleaned with a commercial grade vacuum equipped with a beater bar prior to steam cleaning. C. Pre-treat the Carpet 1. Specifically treat stains including, but not limited to, coffee, soft drinks, etc. 2. Remove gum. 3. Spray traffic lanes with Olefin conditioner, or equal. 4. The Contractor must use Hydro-force pre-spray to emulsify dirt and stains. 5. All chemicals used must be certified environmentally safe for the workplace. D. Equipment 1. Carpet cleaning shall be completed with a commercial truck-mounted cleaner with not less than 23 Horsepower. Water in the container must be heated to not less than 180 degrees or higher. Water heated to that temperature or above is needed to activate the chemicals in the cleaning solution. Traffic lanes are to be rinsed free of pre-conditioner material. 2. Ninety-five (95) percent of the water used must be extracted from the cleaned carpet area. 3. Vacuum pump power must be no less than 270 C.F.M. 4. Air blowers shall be used to dry the carpet as needed. 5. Upon completion, the Contractor must wipe down all baseboards adjacent to the carpeted area. 6. Should any furniture or other equipment be sprayed/marred during the carpet cleaning, the Contractor shall ensure this is wiped down and cleaned prior to completion of the project. E. Replace Furniture Moved in Item A 1. The Contractor shall replace all miscellaneous equipment and furniture, (wastebaskets, chairs, trash containers, footrests boxes, stands, carts, etc.) to the correct workstation. 2. Acrylic Mats are not to be put back until the carpet is 100% dry. The EDD staff in the office will do so.
