The purpose of this contract is to provide engineering, design, and related services to King County Department of Natural Resources & Parks, Solid Waste Division, (“County”) for the Vashon Recycling & Transfer Station (VRTS) Organics Collection Area Improvement project. This project will provide an engineered solution to improve organics collection capacity for source-separated organic materials, including accommodating larger vehicles with larger loads and larger commercial dump trucks / trailers at VRTS. An additional goal is to evaluate the existing traffic constraints within the transfer station property between the scale house and the organics collection area to identify appropriate expansion opportunities. The contract is anticipated to be phased as follows, as detailed below in the Scope of Work: Phase 1: Alternatives Analysis and Predesign 30% - anticipated duration 5 months Phase 2: Final Design and Bidding Services - anticipated duration 5 months Phase 3: Services During Construction - anticipated duration 10 months
