Critical features of this project will include repurposing the current Green Bus Depot which will enable the relocation and construction of a new Bus Depot needed to accommodate a future Logan zero-emissions bus fleet (not in this location); consolidation of aviation support facilities; relocation of vehicle traffic to and from Gate Gourmet and Sky Chefs from public street side to airside and thereby reducing overall vehicle miles traveled and traffic jams at the North Gate; allowing the construction of a coastal flood resiliency berm that will benefit the airport and nearby neighborhood; and, further achieve Massport’s sustainability goals by repurposing an existing building and replacing antiquated structures with a consolidated new facility. The new building will incorporate sustainable elements including battery storage, as well as utilizing sustainable materials.
