The scope of work includes, but is not limited to: • Construction and installation of an automated gate system suitable for vehicle access control • All necessary electrical and mechanical components • Labor, materials, and any required permits or inspections • Testing and training upon completion Contractors must be properly insured, and experienced in similar installations. 1. General Requirements • The new gate shall match the style and operational function of the vehicle gate at South Cove County Park. • Contractors may view the existing gate at South Cove County Park, located at 1099 South Cove Road, Seneca, SC, during the park’s operating hours of 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Bidders should notify gate staff that they are there to view the site for the purpose of submitting a Quote. The Park fee will be waived for bidders conducting a site visit. No questions regarding the project should be directed to park staff or discussed during the visit. All questions must be submitted in writing by the deadline for questions • All materials and work shall conform to local, state, and national standards and codes. • The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and services necessary for the complete and functional installation of the gate system. 2. Gate Structure • Design: The gate system shall consist of two bi-parting, inward-swinging gates constructed to span the full width of the roadway. Each gate leaf shall be securely hinged to a structural steel post, resulting in a complete closure when in the closed position. • Material: All structural components (posts, frames, rails, supports, verticals) shall be fabricated from 11-gauge steel. • Finish: All components shall be painted black using Direct-to-Metal Alkyd Enamel or approved equivalent. Posts • Dimensions: Minimum 4” x 4” OD steel. • Installation Depth: Minimum 3 feet below grade. • Concrete: Each post to be secured with a minimum of 500 lbs. of concrete. • Location: Posts to be set 2 feet off the pavement edge on each side. • Preparation: Posts shall be painted before installation in concrete. • Hardware: Each post shall have two ball bearing-type hinges with grease fittings. • Finish: Each post shall be capped. Gate Leaves • Frame Dimensions: o Sides, crossbars, middle support bars, and top rail: Minimum 2” x 2” OD. o Bottom rail: Minimum 3” x 2” OD (actuator attachment point). • Vertical Members: Vertical bollards shall be 1” x 1” OD, spaced no more than 3 ½” apart. • Height: The gate shall have a height of 48 inches, matching the existing gate at South Cove County Park. The contractor shall confirm the height in the field at South Cove County Park prior to fabrication. 3. Gate Operating System • Manufacturer: Maximum Controls Manufacturing • Actuators: Model Max Super Arm 2300, one per gate leaf. • Backup Power: System shall include a battery backup. • Keypad Access: o Model: Watchman W450 o Installed on a metal post set in concrete outside the gate for code entry. • Wireless Entry: o Include wireless receiver o Provide three visor remotes, operational from at least 50 feet. • Vehicle Detection: o Inside Approach: At least two in-ground metal detectors to trigger opening. o Outside Safety Loop: One metal detector to prevent closing on vehicles. • Safety Beam: o Photoelectric safety beam mounted on a metal post outside the gate. • Lightning Protection: o Ditek Lightning Protection o Copper-clad ground rods to be installed. • Timer: o Seven-day programmable timer to keep gate open during park hours. • Emergency Access: o SOS Siren-activated module to allow first responders to open and hold the gate open for 30 minutes.
