Phase 1: Pre-Design Travel to museum for orientation of exhibit space Identify and document media, objects and resources for the exhibition Document, measure, and site-verify existing space Conduct an exhibit planning workshop/charette Review and/or develop themes, goals, and objectives. This includes defining the target audience and defining the desired visitor experience Develop a project brief which includes a. Current overview of project b. Interpretive themes and objectives c. Identification and analysis of all project goals in terms of their effect on the development and successful completion of the exhibit d. Report on architectural opportunities and constraints Phase 2: Schematic Design Content research Schematic Design Development Deliverable. Schematic Design package shall include the following: a. Bubble diagrams identifying themes and concepts, placed in relationship to each other and the exhibit space. b. Floor plan with individual exhibit scenes, content groups and major exhibit elements identified. c. Preliminary sketches for each design element d. Visitor experience narrative to accompany sketches e. Content Matrix f. Production Cost estimate Work collaboratively with the museum’s electrical engineer to ensure power and data are available within the exhibit gallery space Phase 3: Design Development Develop and provide a Design Development Package that includes the following: a. Overview with narrative description, including interpretive purpose statement and objective, for each exhibit scene and content group b. Perspective View Renderings that communicate the design intent within each scene of the content group c. Sample graphic layouts, including graphics approach and typography d. Preliminary material finish and color selection e. A/V Concept Treatment f. Production cost estimate Continue to work collaboratively with the museum’s electrical engineer to ensure power and data are available within the gallery space Draft Text and graphic layouts
