The work to be performed by the consultant consists of preparing preliminary engineering design, environmental permitting, cultural resource review, and bid documents (plans, specifications and opinion of cost) for the Vantage Highway Shared Use Pathway Project. The project limits are for approximately 2,100 linear feet, from Alder Street to Vista Road. University Way and Vantage Highway is an east/west principal arterial street in a residential and commercial area, with two travel lanes and gravel shoulders. The city is planning street and frontage improvements to the existing roadway. The proposed sidewalk and shared use pathway will connect to Vista Road, Alder Street, Brick Road, and the existing Palouse to Cascades Reconnect Trail near the Kittitas Valley Event Center. The project includes the following elements: · rehabilitation of the existing pavement by repairing the existing road base as needed, and pre-leveling/overlaying over the existing roadway; · widening the existing roadway to maintain two travel lanes and adding a center turn lane; · cement concrete curb, gutter, sidewalk, shared use pathway, driveway entrances and curb ramps; · an illumination system to light the roadway and sidewalk; · a pedestrian crosswalk beacon; · stormwater swales; · and landscaping.
