This project generally includes roadway pavement improvements along Cascade Flats from the southern intersection with NH Route 16 to the northern intersection with NH Route 16. The project also includes pavement improvements along River Street. The following is a summary of the project and description of work: Section 1 – General Requirements 1. All work and materials shall be in accordance with NHDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction (SSRBC) 2016, where applicable. 2. The Contractor shall provide submittals of the NHDOT-approved pavement mix designs for the wearing courses to the Town for approval prior to use on this project. 3. The Contractor shall prepare all necessary pavement joints as detailed in Attachment A. 4. The Contractor shall provide and apply tack coat on existing binder course pavement and at all pavement cold joints conforming to NHDOT SSRBC Section 410.22 prior to placement of wearing course. 5. The Contractor shall provide and install 2-inch compacted thickness hot bituminous wearing course pavement. Wearing course mix design as specified. 6. Contractor is responsible for necessary traffic control. Section 2: Base Bid – Cascade Flats Residential Area Improvements Base Bid includes approximately 2,050 linear feet of roadway pavement mill and overlay along Cascade Flats from the Tinker Brook bridge to River Street. The Base Bid area is shown on the Plans included in Attachment A. The description of work for Base Bid is generally as follows: 1. The pavement improvements will generally consist of milling the existing pavement surface to a depth of 2 inches and installing a new wearing course pavement. The Contractor shall coordinate efforts with the Town of Gorham Water & Sewer Department and Public Works Department. 2. The Contractor shall mill the existing pavement surface in accordance with NHDOT SSRBC Section 417 – Cold Planing Bituminous Surfaces. 3. Prior to installing pavement, the Contractor shall coordinate with the Town of Gorham Water & Sewer Department and Public Works Department to review water service box, sewer manhole cover, and catch basin adjustments. The Water & Sewer Department and/or Public Works Department will make final adjustments, if necessary. 4. The Contractor shall construct paved swales and other ancillary pavement improvements. 5. The Contractor shall apply tack coat prior to the installation of pavement overlay. 6. The Contractor shall install wearing course pavement conforming to NHDOT SSRBC Section 403.11943. 7. All items under Section 1 – General Requirements shall apply where applicable.
