I. All brass fittings must meet the “Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act” of January 4, 2011 as follows: a. Not containing more than 0.2% lead when used in respect to solder and flux. b. Not more than a weighted average of 0.25% lead when used with respect to the wetted surfaces of pipes, pipe fittings, plumbing fittings and fixtures. II. All manufacturers and models listed in each group are the standard of quality for each item. “Or Equals” shall be determined by Shelby County Water Services based on the available information and any past experiences by Shelby County Water Services’ personnel. Any vendor wishing to submit “Or Equal” items must submit product information with bid. They must also list any exceptions with the listed item in a separate document. III. Gaskets used for MJ accessory packs, MJ x IPS transition gaskets, and Megalug accessory packs shall be manufactured in the USA and shall be made from Styrene Butadiene Copolymer (SBR). Gaskets shall be manufactured by Specification Rubber Products, Inc., or Equal. IV. Restrained joint pipe shall be Ductile Iron manufactured in accordance with the requirements of ANSI/ AWWA C151/A21.51. Push-on joints for such pipe shall be in accordance with ANSI/AWWA C111/A21.11 "Rubber-Gasket Joints for Ductile-Iron Pipe and Fittings." Pipe thickness shall be designed in accordance with ANSI/AWWA C150/A21.50 “Thickness Design of Ductile-Iron Pressure Pipe,” and shall be based on laying conditions and internal pressures. Cement mortar lining and seal coating for pipe and fittings, where applicable, shall be in accordance with ANSI/AWWA C104/A21.4. Asphaltic outside coating shall be in accordance with ANSI/AWWA C151/A21.51 for pipe and ANSI/AWWA C110/A21.10 or ANSI/AWWA C153/A21.53 for fittings. Restrained push-on joints for pipe and fittings shall be designed for a water working pressure of 350 psi for sizes 4" through 24" and 250 psi for sizes 30" through 42". Restrained joint pipe shall be: a. TR Flex as manufactured by US Pipe b. Flex-Ring as manufactured by American Cast Iron Pipe Company c. Or Equal as determined by Shelby County Water Services V. PEX Water Service Lines shall be manufactured using the high-pressure method of crosslinking. Pipe shall be certified to AWWA C 904 Cross-linked Polyethylene (PEX) Pressure Pipe, 1/2 in. (12 mm) Through 3 in. (76 mm), for Water Service by approved testing agency. In addition, pipe shall be certified to standards ASTM F876, CSA B137.5, NSF 14 and NSF 61, by approved testing agencies, with a standard materials designation code of 3306. Pipe shall demonstrate ability to satisfy the performance requirements of section F.7 of PPI TR-3 of PE materials in order to apply a 0.63 design factor resulting in a temperature/pressure rating of 200 psi @ 73.4°F (1380 kPa @ 23°C). Pipe shall be rated for: a. 160 psi @ 73.4°F (1103 kPa @ 23°C) b. 100 psi @ 180°F (690 kPa @ 82°C) per PPI TR-4 Pipe shall have a co-extruded UV Shield made from UV-resistant high-density polyethylene, color Blue. Pipe shall have minimum recommended UV exposure time of one (1) year when tested in accordance with ASTM F2657, or as per manufacturer’s recommendations. Pipe shall be compatible with cold-expansion compression-sleeve fittings certified to ASTM F2080 for installations as cold as -40°F (-40°C). Pipe shall be approved for use with AWWA C800 fittings when using manufacturer’s recommended insert. Pipe shall be approved by manufacturer for use with manual plastic pipe squeeze-off tools for temporary stoppage of flow. Pipe shall be approved by manufacturer to be repaired using hot air, if kinked in the field. Pipe shall have the minimum markings: PEXa 3306, CSA B137.5, ASTM F876, F2023 and F2080, NSF-pw-g. Pipe shall carry the following markings every three (3) feet (0.9 meters): Manufacturer’s name and trademark, nominal size, PEXa 3306 (material designation code) SDR9 (standard dimension ratio), POTABLE TUBING, AWWA C904, ASTM F876/ F2023 / F2080, CSA B137.5, NSF-pw-g, U.P. Code 160psi/73°F 100psi/180°F 200psi/73°F at 0.63 Design Factor, manufacturing date and footage mark. PEXa shall be: a. MUNICIPEX as manufactured by REHAU Construction, LLC. b. Or Approved Equal by Shelby County Water Services VI. Meter Box and lid designed to support 20,000 lb. vertical loads, in accordance with ASSHTO loading process requirements, shall meet the following requirements. Meter boxes shall be produced using LLD Polyethylene regrind and virgin resins in a series of laminated walls using a 3-step ROTATIONAL MOLDING process. o The outer wall will be formed against an aluminum mold and laminated to the porous (foamed) center wall, which shall be laminated to a smooth bright white interior wall. o The combined wall thickness shall be ½ inch minimum. The meter box shall have an integral flat settling plate (flange) around the base, sufficient to prevent settling when installed in accordance with approved installation methods. The meter box shall meet the dimensions from the product listed as the standard of quality below. The meter box shall have a pipe cut out 4” in diameter. The meter box lid shall be made using injection molding process. The meter box lid shall be made with 100% virgin No-Break polymer for consistency in material and quality. The meter box lid material density shall be 0.935 to 0.941 g/cc. The meter box lid shall meet ADA slip restraint coefficient requirements. The meter box lid shall have a 2” thru hole and a recess for Badger transmitters.
