A. All batteries shall be DEKA brand. No substitutes will be accepted. B. Delivery: 1. Delivery shall be FOB Destination. 2. Delivery Hours: 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P. M. Monday through Friday. 3. A completed delivery ticket shall be provided with deliveries that include the purchase order number, date, delivered brand, part number and quantity. 4. The Contractor shall maintain adequate stock to ensure timely delivery. a. For the replenishment of stock, delivery shall be made within twenty-four (24) hours of order placement. b. For emergency orders, delivery shall be made within two (2) hours of order placement. C. Maintenance Features: All batteries shall: 1. Be maintenance free. 2. Be of a shock resistant, leakproof design, utilizing rigid, high impact polypropylene case and cover material. Design shall prohibit spillage and spewing of acid from battery during handling, storage, installation, and use in and out of vehicles and equipment during service life of the battery. 3. Utilize heavy-duty features to prolong service life and resist vibration failure, such as plates encapsulating in separator envelopes. 4. Include flame arrestor protection to prevent internal explosion of battery caused by external sources of sparks or flame. D. Battery Disposal: The successful bidder shall be responsible for handling and removal of new, used or defective batteries from the County’s Fleet department. Batteries shall be removed upon delivery of new replacement batteries. Used or defective batteries will not be allowed to accumulate at the County facility. The successful bidder shall be responsible for final disposition of all batteries removed from County facilities; these spent and defective batteries will be recycled by an appropriate certified recycling facility. Disposal shall be conducted in strict accordance with all applicable State, Federal and the Battery Council International guidelines. The successful bidder will issue a signed receipt to the County indicating the number, category and description of batteries removed from maintenance facilities. The successful bidder shall provide a “Recycle Manifest” providing information related to the final recycling of batteries picked up from the County. The manifest shall be submitted to General Services - Fleet with the billing invoice. The Contractor shall accept all used batteries from the County as “trade-ins”. Core charges shall not apply.
