The objective of this scope is to outline the hardware and software components required for the effective operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the pinspotter machines and ball return systems within Warhawk Alley, UW–Whitewater’s bowling facility. This includes modernization efforts, ensuring safety, and providing a reliable, user-friendly system for recreational and competitive bowling. Warhawk Alley opened in January 20, 1965 and is located on the lower level of the James R. Connor University Center on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Campus. The unit’s mission is to provide a variety of quality indoor recreation opportunities. Patrons of Warhawk Alley include UW Whitewater students, staff, faculty members, guest of the university, and community members. Warhawk Alley has ten lanes of bowling, eight (8) Brunswick billiards tables, video games, air hockey, ping pong, board games, yard games, and more. The University plans to use the results of the Request for Proposal (RFP) process to award a contract for the provision and installation of pinsetters and returns, including hardware and optional software, for Warhawk Alley at the James R. Connor University Center. The minimum requirements of the new Pinspotters, Returns and Software include: Hardware • Pinspottters (Lighting, Gutters, Pins, Kickbacks, Pit and Frame) o 10 Pinspotter Machines: Commercial-grade, automatic string pinspotter systems (e.g., Brunswick Boost ST String Pinsetters, QubicaAMF Edge String, or equivalent). o Motors and Drives: High-efficiency motors for pin lift, sweep, and reset mechanisms. o Sensors: Integrated optical/mechanical sensors for pin detection, jam detection, and machine diagnostics. o Lighting: Includes LED Pin Deck Lighting o Control Boards: Microcontroller-based or PLC-driven control systems for real-time operation. o Chassis & Safety Covers: Robust frame construction with safety guards and noise-reduction enclosures. • Ball Returns Systems (Lifts, Hoods and Racks) o Ball Lifts and Tracks: Durable ball lift systems and return tracks designed for high-volume use. o Provide replacement parts (Two (2) motors, string, belts, etc.) o New flat gutters o Replacement of Kickbacks, Pit and Frame o Includes LED Pin Deck Lighting o Cover Systems: Protective ball return hoods and ball rack storage stations. o Safety Features: Emergency stop buttons, warning indicators, and child-safe housing. Software • Pinspotters Control Software o Machine Interface: Real-time dashboard for machine diagnostics, performance tracking, and operational status. o Automation Logic: Pre-programmed operational sequences (e.g., 10-pin reset, cycle test, foul detection). o Error Logging: Built-in logging for troubleshooting and maintenance history.
