Work shall include, but not be limited to the following: design, permitting, fabrication, site & foundation work, erection of 8-foot, dog ear, wooden privacy fence. All components shall be new, unless noted otherwise. The design and construction of all aspects of the structure shall be the responsibility of the bidder. The work shall include the demolition and disposal of existing fencing and structure alongside the new expansion of the parking lot. Product/Work Scope: 1. Construct approximately 190 linear feet of 8-foot (high) privacy fence with two double 16-foot truck gates to serve as a view block and security separation from the new expanded south parking lot and the operations compound. 2. Specifications: a. Fence Post (minimum) – SYP PT (2.5 CCA - 6 in. x 6 in. x 12 to 16 ft. – Maximum Spacing 8-foot on center (Contractor shall design, determine post spacing and construct based on exposure, location and other environmental conditions) - Posts shall be set true to line and grade. b. Gate Post (minimum) – SYP PT (2.5 CCA - 8 in. x 8 in. x 12 to 16 ft. – Maximum Spacing 8-foot on center (Contractor shall design, determine post spacing and construct based on exposure, location and other environmental conditions) - Posts shall be set true to line and grade. c. Fence Stringer (minimum) – SYP PT 6 in. x 6 in. maximum span 7’-6” (Contractor shall design, determine stringer size/horizontal spacing and construct based on exposure, location and other environmental conditions) d. Fence Picket - SYP 3/4 in. x 6 in. x 8 ft. Alta Premium (or equal) Treated Dog-Ear Fence Picket e. Dimensional Lumber: No. 1, Pressure Treated, Southern Yellow Pine - Materials shall be free from loose knots, cracks, and other imperfections. f. Concrete – Cast in Place, 3000 PSI (minimum) – Set posts in 12-inch (min) diameter concrete footings extending at least 36 - inches into undisturbed natural ground or properly compacted fill. g. Hardware: i. Nails – No nails shall be used for final mechanical connection. Nails may be used for temporary shoring and setting of structure. Any nails used must be compliant for use with treated wood. ii. Stringer shall be connected with 6-inch Strong-Drive® SDWH TIMBER-HEX HDG Screw (Model SDWH27600G – or equal) two per connection. iii. Pickets shall be connected with Deck-Drive™ DSV WOOD Screw (Model DSVR212R or equal) – two per connection. iv. All hardware shall be either coated, hot dipped galvanized or stainless steel. h. GATES: i. Provide additional horizontal, vertical, and diagonal members to ensure proper gate operation and for attachment of wood, hardware and accessories. Consult manufacturer as necessary. ii. Accessibility: Gate stops, latches and locks shall be accessible from either side of gate. iii. Hardware (hinges, latches, etc.) shall be heavy duty, hot dipped galvanized or stainless steel. iv. Gates shall be designed and constructed in a manner that ensure plumb and true operation and have such adjustment hardware to maintain a plumb and true operation. v. Types: Man Gates and Truck Gates 1. Man Gates – None required. 2. Truck Gates – Two new 16-foot (wide), double, with 8-foot pickets truck gates shall be provided centered on the north and south end of the new parking area. The gate frames shall be constructed with welded and braced galvanized steel or aluminum gate frames. 3. Submittals: a. Drawings: Indicate plan layout, grid, size and spacing of components, accessories, fittings, anchorage, and post section. b. Data: Submit manufacturer’s installation instructions and procedures, including details of fence installation. 4. Warranty: a. Pressure Treated wood shall be warranted by the manufacturer for a minimum of 10 years. Labor to replace defective fence shall be warranted for 4 years.
