The OCME is seeking a modern, high-performance full-body digital radiography system that addresses current deficiencies and supports future operational efficiency. The envisioned system must offer rapid, high-resolution imaging with minimal radiation exposure—particularly important as OCME staff are not certified radiologic technologists. It must be capable of capturing comprehensive full-body scans in trauma-related deaths, child abuse cases, gunshot wounds, skeletonized/decomposed remains, and fire fatalities, where imaging is essential for both diagnostic and evidentiary purposes. Furthermore, the new system must be compact enough to integrate into the OCME facility layout. By acquiring a state-of-the-art solution, the OCME will not only meet the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) accreditation requirements but also ensure continuity of forensic operations, enhance staff safety, and support the accurate and timely investigation of deaths across Maryland.
