DMF is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for supporting studies, projects or grant programs from the Massachusetts Fisheries Innovation Fund (Fund) provided as a part of Vineyard Wind’s Compensatory Mitigation Plan. The purpose of the Fund is to “support programs and projects that ensure safe and profitable fishing continues” as current and future offshore wind projects are developed in North Atlantic waters. The primary goals of the Fund are to provide support to programs and projects through grants that promote innovation and awareness that will increase the resiliency, sustainability and profitability of commercial and for-hire fisheries, enhance the community-based support for the commercial and for-hire fishing industry, and ensure these industries have access to cost-effective and modern safety equipment and vessel technologies. The specific projects and activities supported by the Fund will be decided by the DMF Director in consultation with the Fisheries Innovation Fund Advisory Panel and select technical reviewers.
