The intent and purpose of this quick quote is to establish a firm price contract with one qualified individual or firm to provide Lawn Care services at Operations Station for the Virginia Marine Police – Marine Resources Commission (VMRC), an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Scope of Work: Once a week • Mowing – inside and outside the fence surrounding the Headquarters building (April through November). The grass shall be mowed at a 2” height with a mower adequate to maintain a uniform appearance over the entire area; blades must be maintained to a high degree of sharpness to insure a clean cut. During the periods of drought or prolonged rain the frequency rate of mowing may be increased or decreased by the Virginia Marine Police. Mowing operation is to be completed in a single day. • Edging/Trimming - all walkways, curb lines, hard surfaces, fence lines, mowing obstacles, exterior of the Operations Building, etc on VMRC property will be edged at the time each mowing event is performed. • Clean up 1. The contractor shall remove from the site any accumulation of grass clippings from hard surfaces and mulched areas after mowing/trimming. 2. At the end of each days work, the contractor shall remove all trash and debris resulting from his operation, especially grass clippings from hard surfaces and mulched areas. • Parking lot sweeping of all parking lots outside of the fence. May be blown with a leaf blower or swept up. Quarterly • Fenced in storage area - Brush Killer – apply brush killer to 18x12 foot fenced-in storage area behind facility, as mowing of this area is not feasible. • Exterior fence area between facility rear and shoreline, side opposite of roadway – Brush Killer – apply brush killer to the immediate area behind the facility fence and shoreline. This is a bumpy but walkable, mostly flat area about 2-3 feet wide, with a downward slope towards the water. It is not easily accessible with a push or riding mower and terrain roughness not conducive to mower use. Access to this area is via locked gate; code, combination or key to lock will be provided for access. Semi-Annually • Mulching – After the plant bed (located underneath the Virginia Marine Police sign) has been weeded, twice annually in the early spring and early fall the area shall be mulched providing a 2” layer of brown hardwood mulch, after settlement, to reduce weed competition and conserve moisture. • Fertilizer (Scotts yearly program or Equal) – the Contractor shall provide fertilization to the grounds (includes grass and shrubs) in the early spring and again in the early summer. Yearly • Pruning – Single shrubs may be allowed to develop to mature size unless they are blocking the Virginia Marine Police sign. • Apply grass seed with starter – the Contractor shall provide grass seed to the grounds in the early spring. VMRC will take care of the watering.
