The Department of Parks and Parkways is soliciting bids for the replacement of the existing playground safety surfacing at Laurence Square (900 Napoleon Avenue) and Brechtel Park (4401 Lennox Avenue). The contractor is responsible for installing tree protection, demolishing and disposing of the existing play surfacing, expanding the fall zones at Laurence Square by demolishing pavement and extending the concrete base and safety surfacing area as required to meet current fall zone requirements based on the fall heights of the equipment, lowering a swing beam at Laurence Square, and installing new safety surfacing per the attached plans to meet the Critical Fall Heights of each play equipment area. The safety surfacing must be installed to meet all industry standards, including ATSM, US CPSC and Product Critical Fall Height requirements. The contractor must prepare a shop drawing for each play area depicting the depth and extent of the new surfacing in relation to the play equipment fall zones. The plan set is attached.
