The work generally consists of Upgrading the existing aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) based foam- water sprinkler system currently protecting the thermal oil heater #1 and #2 at the North Shore Water Reclamation District Facility in the city of Zion, Illinois. Existing Ansul bladder tank and bladder, hydraulic concentrate control valve, swing check valve, concentrate isolation valve and foam/water proportioner will be demolished and replaced with new. The existing feed mains supplying systems, deluge valve risers, sprinkler pipe branch lines and 20 fire sprinklers that protect the thermal oil heaters will remain and shall be properly flushed, cleaned and inspected. The installation contractor is responsible for the removal and disposal of the AFFF flushing water and foam concentrate in accordance with local environmental regulations. The replacement SFFF foam-water sprinkler system is to be installed after the demolition of the old AFFF system.
