KEYS is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors to provide design, engineering, and construction services for the refurbishment and upgrade of an existing freight elevator at the Ralph Garcia Building, 6900 Front Street Extended, Key West, FL 33040. The elevator is located at a critical facility for KEYS. Originally installed as a freight elevator that services 4 floors, the unit is outdated with manual door operation. The elevator is accessible inside the building on all floors. It is also accessible from the exterior of the building on the 1st floor. The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, and services necessary to: • Conduct a full evaluation of the existing elevator structure and components • Develop stamped engineering drawings and submit for code review/permitting • Apply and receive all applicable permits • Remove and replace non-compliant or obsolete systems • Retrofit or replace elevator car to passenger standards o Note: KEYS intends to continue to use the elevator for freight use in addition to passengers. Proposed finishes should be rugged and aesthetic. • Provide for automatic (push button) operation of elevator, including doors • Provide electrical, structural, and fire/life safety upgrades as necessary • Coordinate with local building officials and state elevator inspectors • Perform system testing, obtain required certifications, and complete final turnover • Provide operational manuals and training for KEYS staff
