hand Planting The Alabama Forestry Commission requests to solicit bids for hand tree planting on a 195+/- acre cutover tract on the Little River State Forest in Escambia County, AL. We request lump-sum bids for seedlings and planting labor together. See attached maps. Tract Description: 195+/- acres of cutover in portions of Section 18, T3N, R6E, Escambia County, AL, as shown on the attached map. This tract was chemically site prepared in June of 2025. The AFC will conduct a site prep burn on the site in late summer/fall 2025.Specifications:o Must use containerized Longleaf pine seedlings suitable for the coastal plain o Hand-plant on an 8’ x 8’ spacing; 680 trees per acreo At least 90% of the seedlings must be correctly planted according to AFC’s resource sheet “Planting Pine Seedlings”, which is available on the AFC website o Seedlings are to be planted between December 1, 2025 and February 1, 2026o Vendor to provide seedlings and planting laboro Vendor to provide proper care and handling of the seedlings while they are in the vendor’s custodyo Plugs should stay intact when extracted and during handling, with no loss of potting medium, and should never be allowed to dry outo Plugs should be no less than 1.3 inches diameter, 4.5 inches long, and 6 cubic inches in volumeo Seedlings should have a root collar diameter no less than 0.25”o Top of plug to be slightly exposed above the soil surface, but no more than 1.0”
