The physician shall not be considered an employee but will operate as an independent contractor. The services to be provided include, but are not limited to, the evaluation and consultation of City of Laredo employees, retirees and their dependents (spouse and child(ren) covered under a City of Laredo's medical plan) for illnesses. Provider shall evaluate and treat Workers' Compensation injuries if he/she is part of the Texas Workers' Compensation Alliance Network. Services will also include minor wound care, management of communicable diseases, immunizations, health assessments, consultations, physicals, referrals, and other health services as required by the City of Laredo. The physician will work closely with Employee Health and Wellness (EHW) staff to promote the health and wellness of City of Laredo employees, retirees and their covered dependents and ensure efficient management of workers' compensation claims. In reference to workers compensation claims, the physician will assist in determining the work status of employees, including conducting return-to-work evaluations and providing guidance on clinic policies and procedures. Additionally, the physician will interpret and ensure compliance with relevant government regulations related to employee health and wellness. The physician must have extensive experience in occupational health services and will be required to be on-site as scheduled and agreed upon.
