The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) request a letter of interest and a current resume of qualifications from all interested engineering firms experienced in providing Inspection and Inventory services for all public railroad-highway crossings biennially. The engineering firms should possess and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the standards set forth in the MUTCD, AASHTO Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, and the Railroad - Highway Grade Crossing Handbook. The firms should be familiar with the general principles and practices of railroad inspections set forth in the SCDOT Railroad Inspection Procedure Manual and demonstrate competence to exercise sound engineering judgement. The SCDOT will furnish all necessary plans, specifications, and other information in the possession of the SCDOT needed for providing the consultant service desired. Requested services include, but are not limited to, highway-rail crossing safety assessment, signing and pavement marking examination, field sketches, field coordination, and sight distance investigation.
