The Northern Newbury Segment of the B2B Trail runs from Byfield Center to the Clipper City Rail Trail and MBTA Commuter Rail Station at Parker Street in Newburyport. In 2022, the Town of Newbury (“the Town”) worked with MassDOT on a Feasibility Study to evaluate options for the first segment (Section North-A) of the trail, which runs from Byfield Center to Route 95 and then along the west side of Route 95 to Scotland Road at Exit 83. Section North-A is approximately 2 miles and comprises a utility corridor and the Route 95 State-owned forested right-of way. The path route from the end of Section North-A northward to the Newburyport MBTA Train Station and Clipper City Trail (Section North-B), is to be assessed for feasible alternatives, and a preferred path will be determined through input from all stakeholders and thorough public engagement.
