• Supplier is responsible for euthanizing and removing spent hens. • Euthanizing: - Supplier is required to provide – o Catch crew o Front end loader o CO2 gas o MAK carts o Trucks and trailers - Supplier is responsible for all materials needed to euthanize birds in a safe, skillful and compassionate manner. - Euthanized birds must be handled, removed and disposed of following UEP guidelines. • All birds must be confirmed dead prior to disposal. Any birds found to still be alive must be euthanized rapidly, following UEP guidelines. • Emergency Bird Removal: - GCI may require emergency hen removals. Upon request, supplier must remove birds within 7 business days of being contacted by the farm manager. • Schedule: - Spent Laying Hen Removal schedule will be as follows (tentatively): February 2026 – 38,000 birds o July 2026 – 38,000 birds o January 2027 – 38,000 birds o August 2027 – 38,000 birds o October 2027 – 38,000 birds - The minimum quantity of birds to be removed during the life of this contract is approximately 76,000 annually (2 houses). - Quantities are an estimate; GCI may require more or less birds to be removed. • Documentation: - All UEP guidelines pertaining to Animal Husbandry must be followed (handling, catching, euthanasia and transport of spent hens). - All workers involved must have up to date UEP training documentation on file before beginning. This training must include: o The ability of hens to experience pain and fear o The risk of bone fractures o Proper carcass disposal o Methods of identifying unconsciousness and death o Worker safety o Biosecurity procedures o Proper use of equipment • Supplier must provide documentation that all trucks, trailers, front end loaders, cages and all required equipment has been washed with soap and water (high pressure) and disinfected with a U.S. Department chemical that eliminates Avian Influenza before entering farm. • All documentation must be provided before supplier arrives to farm. • Quote will include euthanization and removal. • Pricing should be all inclusive. GCI will not pay for freight, taxes, tariffs, or any other fees as separate line items.
