Matlab is the required programming language for PHY 275. Students need to program in Matlab to complete programming homeworks and exams. The course has served 105 students since 2019. Matlab: a practical introduction to programming and problem solving, 5th Edition, by Stormy Attaway, Elsevier 2018 is the required text and the course is designed around MATLAB. In the newly approved set of pre- and co-reqs, PHY 175 is a prerequisite for (currently used in bold classes): PHY 310 (Intermediate Lab 1): 65 studetns since Fall 2020: Matlab used for some experiments. PHY 455 (Intermediate Lab 2): 65: student since Fall 2020 Matlab used for some experiments. PHY 350 PHY 370 PHY 390 With the new design of the upper division PHY curriculum, a department goal is to use MATLAB in these courses. Thus, PHY 275 is required for any course which has one of these courses as a preor co-requisite: PHY 320 (Intermediate Lab 2): 5-10 students /semester: Matlab used for some experiments. PHY 410 (Optics), 5-10 students/year PHY 420 (Quantum Mechanics I, 5-10 students /year PHY 425 PHY 430 PHY 435 The following BioMed courses will use the Matlab: BME 315, 325 (BME lab I, II) ~ 20 students BME 410/410 (senior design I, II), ~ 20 students BME 355, (bioinstrumentation), ~ 20 students
