A. Insignia for Exterior use (25 CCR § 4031(c)) 1) The Contractor must provide Type III labels (or plates) for exterior affixation, also known as Insignia, to HCD according to the standards of California Code of Regulations title 25, section 4031, “Labels for Exterior Locations.” 2) Each label must be capable of a 20-year life expectancy when exposed to extreme weather conditions, including an all-weather rated permanent type adhesive. 3) Letters and numbers must be bold Gothic font or similar style font, varied for emphasis, as large as the space on each Insignia permits, with smallest font size being 5/64” (0.078125”). • Wording must be easily read and concise. • State Seal placed as per examples in Attachment A. 4) As specified in California Code of Regulations title 25, section 4031, footnote 1, adhesives must have a minimum thickness of .004 inch and allow for application to a smooth surface. 5) Tamper evident scoring – see Attachment A examples. 6) Insignias must withstand a temperature range of -45°F to +170°F. B. Identification Labels for Exterior use (25 CCR § 1020.9(b)(9)), 1) The Contractor must provide Type III labels (or plates) with the following specifications provided in California Code of Regulations title 25, section 1020.9(b)(9): “Letters and numbers shall be bold Gothic or similar style, varied for emphasis, as large as space on each Insignia permits, with the minimum size being 5/64 inches. Wording shall be easily read and concise.” Each label must have an all-weather rated, permanent type adhesive. Adhesives must “have a minimum thickness of .004 inches,” and allow for application to a smooth surface. 2) 25 CCR § 1020.9(b)(9)(C): “Type III. Metallized Mylar (polyester), surface bonded. Minimum Size: .003 inches by one and one-half (1 1/2) inches by three (3) inches. Material: Aluminum/vinyl surface bonded (to be used for nameplates where variable information is required by embossing, which can be done with a conventional typewriter). Minimum Size: .006 inches by one and one-half (1.5) inches by three (3) inches.” 3) Tamper evident scoring – see Attachment A examples. C. Factory Built Housing Insignia (25 CCR § 3039), Interior 1) The Contractor must provide interior affixed labels also known as Insignia to HCD following the below given standards as allowed by California Code of Regulations title 25, section 3039, “Insignia of Approval.” 2) Each insignia must be capable of a 20-year life expectancy when exposed to extreme weather conditions, including an all-weather rated adhesive. 3) Insignia Identified as Factory Built Housing Orange and Factory Built Housing Red are interior labels and must be made of printable matte vinyl sticker paper. 4) Adhesive-for multiple surfaces.
