Provide a Psychiatrist/ Quality Assurance Clinician for the Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) Screening Program and Evaluation of nursing facility applicants and residents, referred by hospital staff, primary care physicians, DSHS Community Nurse Consultants and social workers in compliance with this Contract and 42 CFR 483. Objectives of the PASRR Program are to: 2.1 Provide evaluation of nursing facility applicants or residents. The primary focus of PASRR evaluations will be to shift emphasis to preadmission screenings. 2.2 Evaluate nursing facility applicants or recently placed residents who may have mental illness to: 2.2.1 Ensure that mentally ill individuals, who are screened for need of specialized services as detailed in 42 CFR 483 prior to skilled nursing facility placement, are appropriately placed for the level of care needed; and; 2.2.2 Establish psychiatric diagnosis for mentally ill individuals and recommend mental health services needed while in the nursing facility.
