The Flood AMP is part of a broader effort to enhance Zone 7’s flood management program. In addition to the FMP, it supports other ongoing planning initiatives, including the development of a Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and associated Finance Plan, with the goal of renewing and replacing existing flood protection facilities, reducing flood risk, and improving system performance and resilience. The Flood AMP will serve as a foundational tool to inventory, assess, and manage the condition and performance of critical flood system assets—primarily engineered flood channels, maintenance roads, and associated conveyance infrastructure. These assets are vital to community protection during high-flow events. Zone 7 seeks development of a strategic document outlining how the existing inventory of flood system assets can be managed to deliver the required level of performance consistently, reliably, efficiently, and cost effectively through the assets’ lifecycle. Key system vulnerabilities include sloughing, erosion, and sedimentation, generally occurring during higher flow events, and aging infrastructure. Together, these vulnerabilities diminish flood channel structural integrity, reduce hydraulic capacity, and increase maintenance, renewal, replacement, and repair needs.
