The Weapons Training Facility (WTF) was built in 2007 and has been in constant use since its completion. The floors have not been resealed since 2007. The sealer has worn off is several areas because of the use by over 4,500 police officers annually. The floor sealing is important to maintain a clean environment inside the WTF. A smooth floor will not allow lead dust, from the fired lead bullets, to stick to the floor, and allow the HEPA vacuums to pick up the maximum amount of lead dust during monthly cleaning. In addition, any open expansion joints, and wall seams will be filled and resealed to prevent lead dust buildup in these areas. The lane markings and numbers are chipped, worn, and need to be repainted. The bullet traps are chipped, worn, and need repainting. The cleaning and storage room floors that are exposed to lead dust need to be resealed.
