The Contractor shall provide a tanker truck to haul backwash and silt sediment to a disposal site. This service shall be provided within forty-eight (48) hours of the Institution Contract Liaison or designee contacting the Contractor to pump out the backwash tank. The Contractor shall be prepared to withdraw approximately 40,000 gallons at each callout made by Institution Contract Liaison or designee. Any extra added cost incurred due to not complying with the above timeline or not making prior arrangements with a facility based on the attached analysis shall be at the contractor’s expense. The estimated backwash disposal is approximately 22,000,000 gallons of backwash over the three (3) year term of this Agreement. Waste generated by the operation shall be managed and disposed of in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations, including Federal Title 40 Section 261 and California Code of Regulations Title 27. This may include collection of samples for laboratory analysis to characterize the waste prior to disposal to be determined by the Contractor. In accordance with the above-referenced general project description, the Contractor shall perform the following tasks: • Provide a tanker truck containment using best industry practices that has not been used for sewer or hazardous materials. Backwash water & silt shall always be contained within vacuum truck or other approved container(s) until time of disposal. • Ensure waste product is being transported properly and in accordance with applicable Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines. Contractor shall possess and maintain at all times an EPA transportation manifest required to transport backwash water waste. • Contactor shall determine the appropriate facility to dispose of backwash water waste, make contact and arrangements with determined facility prior to pick up of backwash water. An additional analysis of the backwash can be provided by the state on request by the contractor if needed for approved disposal site. • Contractor shall provide to the Institution Contract Liaison or designee, daily summary sheets listing quantities of backwash water removed. The summary sheets shall be supported by weight tickets showing date and time of the truck before loading at CMC and after loading at CMC. • Dispose of liquid and solid waste generated in accordance with industry best practices at a State-approved disposal facility, at no extra cost to the State, based on waste profile streams provided by the State.
