Task 1: Tree Foliar Herbicide Application (230 acres) Contractor must systematically grid out 230 acres of IHAP and apply Garlon 3A, or the generic equivalent pre-approved by the DNR Project Manager, to spot treat trees on specified property located in Harrison County, Iowa. On average, the canopy cover of trees in the grassland is between 2-4% with trees ranging between 4-12 feet in height. Some treatment area has cover of less than 0.5% canopy cover while others have up to 4%. Drainage areas may vary in canopy cover in a small percent of the field. Overall treatment would consist of targeted treatment on sparse encroaching trees with attention to CRP compliance. See area in highlighted on Attachment A. • Foliar spray mix must consist of at least 2% solution of triclopyr and a non-ionic surfactant containing penetrant. Rate of surfactant must be per the label recommendations. • Sufficient spray volume should be used to obtain complete coverage of the target plant foliage. • 1 week after initial herbicide application, Contractor must complete a follow-up systematic search to spot treat any trees that were missed in the initial application. • The Contractor must adhere to all manufacture chemical directions including application rate using the DNR pre-approved chemical.
