THE PENNSYLVANIA VETERINARY LABORATORY IS IN NEED OF A VENDOR TO DISPOSE OF ANIMAL CARCASSESS AND ANIMAL PARTS. THE SUCCESSFUL VENDOR WILL PROVIDE REMOVAL, TRANSPORTATION, AND DISPOSAL. As per current federal guidance, the Pennsylvania Veterinary Laboratory lab does not send (HRM: High Risk Material) for composting or landfill any animals that are suspect or test positive for high consequence animal diseases such as influenza, , prion diseases, tuberculosis, and foreign animal diseases. PVL policy dictates that all dogs and cats, small ruminants, deer, and high risk tissues from any animal are not sent for composting or landfill. Other animals are held until a result of negative or not detected is obtained. Carcasses of cattle over 30 months of age that are tested for rabies and BSE, animals are held until confirmed BSE negative. Animals, excluding dogs and cats, small ruminants and deer that are positive for rabies may be sent for composting or landfill with the requirement that anyone handling the tissues is appropriately vaccinated against rabies.
