Mark exterior sale and interior Payment Unit boundaries for all stands according to the details below, and on the attached maps. Only boundary line work is needed in Stands 1, 11, 13, 17, 26, 34, 42 & 51. - Stands 2, 6, 12, 18 & 23 - Trees are to be marked for removal by both designating rows and/or Cut Tree Marking (CTM) with blue paint. Paint should be on both sides of trees and stump marks must extend at least 12 inches from the ground. Cut rows must be marked with blue "X"s designating rows for removal down the length of the row. Each row must be walked and have easily visible confidence marks down the entire row. Where rows are indistinct or not present, CTM these areas according to the marking guide below, either removing 1/3rd of the BA, or down to a residual of 100 BA (whichever comes first). Follow the marking guide below for priority of selection. Equipment operability within any given area is first priority for removal. Marking Guide: Thin every third row of red pine, maintaining a minimum of 14 feet between cut rows. If this cannot be achieved, cut 2 rows and leave 3 rows. In areas where rows are not distinct, free thin down to approximately 100-120 BA. Species Priority: Well-formed, dominant red pine // Cut all jack pine unless it is unmerchantable due to a defect (jack pine do not need to be marked as it will be spec'd out in the Timber Sale Contract) // Discriminate against poor form, small crowns and suppressed trees // Leave all white oak // Remove all jack pine // Release white pine // Do not cut aspen clumps.
