These specifications describe the minimum requirements for two (2) Type 6 fire engines (brush trucks) for the County of Louisa. The Vehicle bodies shall be custom fabricated, including labor and material to assemble the truck body, tank, pump and plumbing necessary to create the Fire Engines per specifications. The two trucks shall be identical in all manner except for cab type. One will be a regular cab, and one will be an extended cab. The fire trucks described in these specifications must be provided as complete turn-key package, complete with new chassis, the body, firefighting equipment, and all accessories and incidentals necessary to produce the completed vehicles to meet the requirements of the specifications contained in this document. The vehicles supplied must comply with all U. S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, EPA emissions regulations, Code of Virginia Title 46.2 Chapter 10, and all other State of Virginia rules and regulations in effect at the time of purchase. The apparatus delivered shall conform to and /or exceed the applicable requirements of the National Fire Prevention Associations standards (NFPA) 1901 and 1906. NFPA document 70 (also known as the National Electrical Code), and all relevant Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) standards. Specifications include, but are not limited to: BODY SPECIFICATIONS: A: STREET SIDE BODY COMPONENTS: 1. Provide and install a street (driver) side bed mounted compartment with single door. The compartment shall be installed on the platform body, back driver side, with the door faces recessed 1 inch in from the outer edge of the bed. 2. The compartment shall be constructed of .125” thick bright aluminum tread plate, 79” long x 42” high x 23” deep. 2. Compartment shall have (1) adjustable height shelf, full depth of the compartment. a. Shelf shall be .188” thick aluminum, with a 2” high lip on all sides with adjustable tracks on sides and back walls. 4. Floor of each section of the compartment shall be covered with black Turtle Tile plastic floor grating or equivalent. 5. The compartment shall have (1) door, hinged at the top, using stainless-steel full-length hinge. 6. Door mullions must be designed for attachment of captive type waterproof replaceable door seals at all doors. Adhesive attached weather stripping is not acceptable. 7. Door shall be of double panel construction, internally braced to prevent warping and twisting, and to ensure that doors fit snugly against door seals at all edges, to provide watertight sealing all around the doors when the doors are closed. 8. Door facings shall be .125” thick bright aluminum tread plate. 9. Door shall be equipped with minimum 90 lbs lift dual gas springs that shall hold door open with 90 degrees or greater movement. 10. Door latches shall be of the recessed stainless-steel twist-lock type, pop riveted in position at lower center of each door at its opening location. All latches shall key lock, keyed alike with all other body doors. 14. Provide and install a street (driver) side bed mounted compartment with single door. The compartment shall be installed on the platform body, front driver side, with the door faces recessed 1 inch in from the outer edge of the bed. 15. The compartment shall be constructed of .125” thick bright aluminum tread plate, 16.25” long x 30” high x 23” deep. 16. Floor of each section of the compartment shall be covered with black Turtle Tile plastic floor grating or equivalent. 17. The compartment shall have (1) door, hinged at the top, using stainless-steel full-length hinge. 18. Door mullions must be designed for attachment of captive type waterproof replaceable door seals at all doors. Adhesive attached weather stripping is not acceptable. 19.
